Welcome to our 'Dog Mentor' page which is dedicated to our school dog Ted.
We welcomed Ted to our school community at the beginning of the Summer term 2023 after a consultation with parents and members of our SSC.
Ted is a 3-year-old cockapoo which is Mr Carry's own dog. He was trained as a Dog Mentor back in Spring 2021 with the company The Dog Mentor UK so that he could support the children back to school after the second period of the national lockdown.
We now have three qualified handlers in school - Mr Carry, Mrs Weston and Mrs Edwards, who are all able to ensure the well-being of Ted and also to support our children across the school.
Ted is in school on Mondays and Fridays and can be seen outside the main entrance to welcome the children into school. He is also the only dog which has been trained, insured and risk assessed to be on our school site. Please ensure that no other dogs are brought onto the school premises at any time.
Ted has supported children when they have found it difficult to come into school, if they are feeling unhappy outside in the playground. He is able to help children to manage their emotions too as well as congratulate children who have been 'Stars of the Week.'
If you have nay questions about the Dog Mentor programme, then please contact the school office for further details.
